Please read these details to know how to prepare for your scan
This scan is generally performed through a transvaginal ultrasound. If you cannot have a transvaginal you must let our team at SUGO know. At SUGO, we now have a mini ultrasound probe which is ideal for young people and virginal individuals – if you think you may require this special probe, please inform our staff at the time of booking.
If you have any special requests for your gynecologic ultrasound, please inform our staff at the time of booking.
If you cannot have a transvaginal scan and will need a transabdominal scan, please drink 1 litre (4 large glasses) of fluids 1 hour prior to your appointment. Do not go to the washroom to empty your bladder. You must have a full bladder for this examination.
Eat normally as there is no restriction on meals before or after the ultrasound. In individuals who cannot have a transvaginal ultrasound, we can also offer a transrectal ultrasound to see the gynecologic organs clearly – the quality of a transrectal ultrasound far exceeds a transabdominal ultrasound.
In most instances, this ultrasound scan will require a single visit. However, in some instances, this ultrasound scan may take place over two days depending on the result of the first scan.
Please have a light meal in the morning (or nothing at all if preferred) and please attempt to have a bowel movement before the appointment.
If you have any special requests for your endometriosis ultrasound, please inform our staff at the time of booking.
In most instances, this ultrasound scan will require a single visit. However, in some instances, this ultrasound scan may take place over two days. Essentially, NO preparation is needed for either of these ultrasound visits.
However, the timing matters. The visit needs to be scheduled according to the menstrual cycle (if you are having one).
If you are having a menstrual cycle, please only schedule these ultrasound procedures from (roughly) day 3 to day 10. If you are not having menstrual cycles, please ensure you are not pregnant prior to scheduling these ultrasound procedures.
If you have any special requests for your SIS or HyCoSY ultrasound, please inform our staff at the time of booking.
A transvaginal ultrasound does not require any preparation! You don’t need a full bladder. Eat normally as there is no restriction on meals before or after the ultrasound.
If you have any special requests for your early pregnancy ultrasound, please inform our staff at the time of booking.
